The Herbert Ganado Garden was formerly known as the Kalkara Gardens. The name most probably derived from the former presence of a nearby Kalkara Gate. The Herbert Ganado Garden is a small terraced garden, well cultivated, having fantastic panoramic views of the Grand Harbour.
Herbert Ganado, born in Floriana, was a well known lawyer, author and politician. Ganado’s most precious gift to the Maltese people and Maltese literature is without any doubt Rajt Malta Tinbidel (I saw Malta Change) - a four volume autobiography which is an important source for the study of Malta’s Social History.
Herbert Ganado died on the 5th April 1975. His monument is in The Mall Gardens.
