This small but very curious room located on the second floor of the Verdala Palace could have been used as a private torture room. No documentation was found so far related to the usage of this room although it is visible on the palace plans.
Originally, when the Verdala Palace consisted only of the ground floor, this room was accessible from the roof and was situated under one of the turrets. When the first floor was added, the room became accessible through a very narrow corridor from one of the bedrooms.
There are sets of holes in the wall, which indicate that these could have been used to tie prisoners who were then fumigated. Another interesting detail is a small opening in the thickness of the walls, roughly the size of a person, which might have been used to wall-up prisoners alive.
